Club: how to run private games on BBO

Quick Guide for Club Managers interested in organizing online games for their club players

In these hard times caused by the Coronavirus Pandemia, we want to help every club to keep making their members play bridge. Bridge brings people together and yes, it’s still possible to play bridge, even if stuck at home!

The fastest way to get started is to get your players online on BBO and organize some private games for them. This will be granted on request.

These private tournaments will have a minimum entry fee and will allow your members to win some BBO points. The revenue goes towards your club.

Create your BBO usernames

To create a BBO account, visit www.bridgebase.com and click Login/Register. Then, click “Become a member (free!)

Once your players have registered on BBO, they need to tell you their BBO usernames, so you can find them and add them to your games.

Create private tournaments

Our site offers the feature to host private games, limited only to a specific list of players. You need to email support@bridgebase.com and ask permission to host tournaments. It would help to mention that this is for your club, so we know how to assist you further.

What is the cost?

We really want to help all clubs. We also need to support servers and material costs to run these games. What are options?

  1. You want to apply entry fees to your members: it has to be at least $1 and fees will be split 50/50 between your club and BBO (exceptionally, 70/30 until the first of July).
  2. You don’t want to apply any entry fees to your members: contact us to run a free games, but note you won’t be allowed to charge them without telling BBO.

When asking permission to host free tournaments you will need to tell us the BBO username(s) of the people who will host the tournaments (usually your TD, or a player who is already familiar with how BBO works).
