I really enjoyed this online tournament and hope another one will be scheduled very soon!
Would be great to add team games.
My partner and I were on line at 2 pm to register. The event didn’t show up until 2:03. We tried to register but received a message that it was full! What gives? Very disappointed.
me too, at 2:01
You have to register in the morning.
Thanks for doing this – would do this again in a heartbeat. Please have one every weekend…..we have missed so many regionals!
Where are the bbo masterpoints?
Obviously, there is a need for a more improved registration option. “Black Friday” mob comes to mind. Perhaps everyone who wants to play registers early followed by a random drawing of a number of registrants equal to the number of available tables. That makes it more fair to everyone who has a slow internet option and may not be able to get online within the 8 – 10 minutes. We’ve found that a partner in one state can find the registration site 3-5 minuets before the partner in another state.
Good luck with this issue!
I actually played in it as I figure there’s no chance of in-person tournaments coming back this year. All in all, it was OK. A lot of suspect bids/defensive plays but whatever I guess that’s expected a little bit. Also 18 boards is not enough at all. Next time it needs to be 24 boards, especially for $15 a session.
Thanks for putting this on.
How do I enter my ACBL #
Go to “ACBL World” on the BBO Home Page and press “Update ACBL Number” button.
Played in the gold rush. Going forward really hope ACBL does
something to monitor those not playing ethically. Many suspect bids-like leaving doubles in by opponents at the two level. For the integrity of the game, some kind of monitoring needs to be done
and it needs to be publicized to all of the players.
I have found that if you bring in a director and tell him/her your concerns, they will keep a close eye on the opps and monitor them
Had a great deal of difficulty logging in – even though waiting well in advance. It seems as if my partners and I were barred from entering our names.
I would like to see this kind of tournament on a monthly basis. Please also add an option to play with 3 robots. This could be a daylong event.
Thank you
As expected, cheating was rampant. I hope ACBL investigates and punishes the offenders, but know they won’t.
Where is the breakdown of Gold and red points?
I want to support ACBL and played each day. Never could get in for gold rush pairs. The only day for I/N I enjoyed but all other sessions I was the Cannon fodder for the “big boy” stats at 1500 plus. This is really unacceptable for the us trying to reach Life Master.
I thoroughly enjoyed the ACBL Stay @ Home Play @ Home Regional and was able to accumulate 6.48 gold/red points over the six sessions that I played on May 1-3. $ 90 fees/6.48 mp. = $13.89 per Gold/Red mp. Very economical and fun.
I am ready to play again as soon as possible! Great remedy for this unfortunate “Cabin Fever” that we are all dealing with.
Kudos to all involved in the planning and executing of this Excellent & Satisfying experience!

Really enjoyed tornament. Agree that 24 boards would be nice. My partner and I were 2000 miles apart so it was a great chance to do a tornament together. As to cheating don’t know if it happened nothing stood out to us as unethical in our games and so we just played our best and were grateful we had the games. For us no problem getting registered sorry thAt it was difficult for some. I use my phone with data to register so didn’t run into slow computer problems. Hope acbl and bbo partner up for many more of these events as plAyers at least speaking for myself will be reluctant to attend any tornaments in person till virus over and maybe have vaccine
Biggest disappointment is the inability to get registered….will someone advise the magic formula…..it was like a feeding frenzy!!!!
I played in 2 events: Gold Rush Pairs and Open Pairs. I was amazed at how smooth the process unfolded. Our opponents were polite and played in a timely manner. The Directors, when called, made decisive rulings and allowed the game to unfold.
I was stunned by the time required to collect for 390 tables of Gold Rush: on 2 different days, entries were open for 5 minutes and then closed with a full field.
I would like to thank the many professionals and volunteers that make the event so special. And, I would like to share a few suggestions:
A. For the foreseeable future, we cannot play in a regional event and would appreciate the option of playing monthly if possible.
B. In the best of all worlds, the addition of events starting in the morning would be a plus.
c. Finally, bridge is a great game led my passionate leaders.
I really enjoyed this tournament. I was able to play with a partner from a different state so that was cool. Would’ve enjoyed some team events, but pairs is fun. In both the open and the side session I played, nothing too suspicious happened. I would like to request that we have more opportunities like these to play “real” tournaments from home.
Fab, clearly high demand event. Needed since new requirements for gold points implemented – too difficult to travel for points. Agree about extending to 24 hands per game. Still too much time allotted per hand – 7 minutes adequate when in home. Fix registration pls. Needed to step over to refill coffers while registration ran – almost locked out. Seems like this is probably much more profitable for acbl and more fair with huge requirements for gold. Congrats all and thanks.
How about sectionals? Either limit the attendees by unit numbers or by state…
I am trying to access virtual tournaments from first logging on to Competitive. I only have 3 options and one is not the virtual games or ACBL north american. Please help
How about a checkbox at registration with a statement such as “I personally guarantee that I will in no way communicate with my partner during bidding and play, except by way of this BBO platform”?
I played 3 days in the tournament. It was great to have the opportunity to pick up red points. My partner now has all that is required for Life Master. ACBL had asked for feedback but didn’t say where. Hope they read these comments.
1. The most frustrating thing was the convention cards. MOST players did not have a card or did not have an accurate card. Many did not know how to post a card.
RECOMMENDATION: When ACBL next announce a Gold Rush tournament they should explain that it is essential that pairs have an accurate cc. AND explain how a cc. is posted on BBO
2. When asked for carding many pairs did not reply.
RECOMMENDATION: When ACBL next announce a Gold Rush tournament the must implore players to completely explain their carding including signals and discards.
BBO certainly need it by the server !! I tried so many time to log on finally get in but, we get kick out of tournament!! It’s awful that you can’t log on because the server unable to take to many users
Glad to see I at least got a chance at gold. Think this should be done more often or with more tables. luckily I got in but know registration was a problem.
Overall, was really enjoyable. The one negative, there was obvious cheating going on and it is apparent just from looking at the results. Not sure what you can do, but certainly need to announce that communication constitutes cheating and make players check a box that says they understand that and if they are found to be cheating, they can be suspended, etc.
The regional was a great idea.
It would be nice to see the Gold rush pairs with three flights (1200 tables).
Will we be doing this again, hopefully since the gold points are not available any other way. Thank you
Played in 299ers and enjoyed. Could not get into Sun lower up to 750 stratified game — full. Registration is a problem.
Would like to see more 299er events at each session.
Very Clever names and good opportunity for a 99er to play in a tournament and scratch. Many thanks.
Hope you do this again. So sad that Montreal cancelled, we are missing many live Regionals. Next time though make sure everyone who wants to can register
As for deterring cheating, the organizer just need a statement saying something in the effect of, we preserve the right to use camera to randomly check on you.
Did not play because I suspected the cheating would be rampant and from the comments above it was – dont see how the ACBL and BBO could fix this unless suspension for HIGHLY suspicious actions on 2 or more occasions is a course of action. I also suspect it wont happen because I have personally reported suspicious actions on BBO players multiple times and they are still playing. FIX THIS or the games will die their own natural death. The on-line regional as great fun. Partner & I got the gold needed to make Life Master. Looking forward to another on-line regional.
.
We got registered in wrong event first round; couldn’t get in second. We need get our $15 each returned. Sent message without reply. Not happy with system at all.
