Browser tricks can have a lot to do with your bridge game.
As we see bridge games moving more towards the online space, bridge gets played on vastly different computers with each running a different browser while we’re all playing the same game – and sometimes hiccups can happen.
Lagging browsers or sudden shutdowns are just some technical issues that could be blamed on issues that relate to your web-browser (and ones that are luckily easy to fix).
Here are some browser tricks for better bridge.
1. Update Your Browser
If you notice that your browser is acting strangely in general, things hang for several minutes at a time or the entire thing crashes, update your browser to a new version. Newer versions of software are released for bug-fixes and other issues, and sometimes an update is all it takes to fix it.
There’s another side of the coin: If you notice the issue happening only after a recent update, download a previous version instead or move to a different browser.
Try loading your chosen site again, and it’s likely that your issue will be something of the past.
2. Disable Plugins
Plugins are little browser tools that do things in the back-end. If you have a specific search-bar to your browser (like DuckDuckGo or Google), that’s one example of a plugin – and so is Flash.
If your plugins aren’t working right, if one of them stops working completely or if several of them clash when run together, it could lag your PC and websites you’re trying to access.
Navigate over to settings and disable each plugin until the issue stops.
Sometimes plugins are also in need of an update.
3. A Different Browser
A different browser is one of the “last resort” options if you notice that you’ve already tried all of the other ways to fix it and the issue is still taking place. Switch and see if this fixes the problem. If not, then it’s something else. That’s the wonder of trying to troubleshoot anything.
