The second edition of the Festival International de Bridge d’Annecy (FIBA 2020 – Episode II) was played between September 14 and 18, 2020. The Bridge Club du Grand Annecy (BCGA) ran the event entirely on BBO. Players could login from home or play in person in Annecy, France.
278 players (103 of whom were from the Comité Dauphiné Savoie) played 200 boards over 10 sessions.
All the details of the festival (including player listing, rankings and deal diagrams) are available on the BCGA website
Online Bridge met traditional in this great event.
Players who wanted to play in the company of other players only had to find themselves in a reception room in Annecy with their tablet or computer where something to eat and drink was waiting for them. (sanitary measures respected of course!)
A convivial moment, around the bridge. And a good example of the fusion of online and traditional bridge.
The BCGA recognises the importance of digital bridge and the role it plays alongside traditional club bridge. Building on the success of FIBA 2020 (11 July) and FIBA 2020 – Episode II, with 182 tournaments played on BBO they are leading the charge in the Comité Dauphiné Savoie, fusing online and in person bridge tournaments.
Long live bridge on the Internet. Long live bridge.
