5 Suggested Publishers for Bridge Writing

Who publishes bridge-related writing?

Our favorite bridge books all have publishers.

Some are general book publishers who happen to publish the occasional book on cards, board games or bridge – while others are specialist publishers who are in the business of bridge books to begin with.

Ideally, don’t send a publisher the full book or text unless they’ve asked. First, start with an email introducing yourself – and with a synopsis of where you’re going with it. (Then, take things from there after a first response from the editor.)

If you’re wondering where to direct contract bridge book pitches, try 5 suggested publishers for bridge writing – plus an extra piece of advice.

Simon & Schuster

Simon & Schuster is a large, general publisher of fiction and non-fiction titles. The average person is bound to have at least a handful of books by this publisher in their bookshelf.

The good news is that while Simon & Schuster doesn’t cater specifically to bridge, they’ve released a few bridge-related titles in their time (including The Little Book of Bridge by Brett Manley).

If you have any bridge manuscripts lying around that you’d like to see published, give Simon & Schuster a shout.

Baron Barclay

If you’ve read any bridge books at all, it’s fair to say that some of them were likely published by Baron Barclay. They’re one of the largest bridge publishers in the world and one of the first ones a bridge writer (or reader) should become familiar with.

Cassell-Orion Publishing Group

Cassell-Orion publishing group is technically a merger of several publishing groups in one – and sometimes, they’ll publish things that aren’t bridge books. For bridge fiction and non-fiction, they’re a possible avenue to consider if you’re a bridge writer with something to say.

Master Point Press

Master Point Press is in charge of awarding (and publishing) some of the best bridge books around every year – and if you’re into bridge books at all, watch for their updated catalog of books, which gets published every so-often and announced on their website.

Oh, and if you want to write about bridge, Master Point Press is one of the specialist publishers I was talking about earlier.

Boolarong Press

Boolarong Press is a general publisher based in Australia.

Are they a specialist bridge books publisher? Nope, but they have previously published books on the topic of bridge. As is the case with every pitch a writer will every send during their career, it all starts with getting in touch first. (And good luck!)
