I was a guitarist before I ventured further into the realm of card games and bridge. Of course, I still look at the guitar with admiration even when it’s been a long time since I’ve gotten to play one anywhere.
The worlds combine well.
Guitar and cards.
The association between the two go a lot further than just the Ace of Spades, even though you might already have the song stuck in your head now. Surely, there’s an intersection between people who play both bridge and guitar out there.
Here are some items for carding up your guitar.
The Ace of Spades Guitar by McSwain Guitars
If you have just under $5, 000, then you can buy a guitar that’s been custom-made as a tribute to the Ace of Spades. It includes modification of the tone knobs, special fret-inlays and, well, a really impressive result. McSwain Guitars is owned and run by luthier Stephen McSwain, who builds boutique guitars – many of them famous.
Playing Card-Themed Leather Strap
Don’t have the budget to blow on the entire guitar? Satisfy your gear-acquisition-syndrome with a leather guitar strap instead, featuring playing-card inlays.
Card decks are one of the #1 items for all card players out there. This deck was made with guitar players in mind, though should intrigue people from both worlds. A deck that helps you to learn guitar – or to keep track of the entire fretboard in one card deck. It’s great for guitar; it’s great for cards. It’s both.
When you mention the brand name Martin in the right circles, expect to hear the names of some great guitarists, too. Many greats have chosen Martin as their default stage acoustic (including, of course, Clapton), and here’s an official card deck that serves as a tribute to the brand.
The Fender Stratocaster Playing Card Deck
Many guitarists are convinced that there are Fender fans and then everyone else.
While I’m not going to say a word about the rest of that argument, I can point Stratocaster fans in the direction of these Fender Strat-themed playing cards, available from Guitar Center.
The Hard Rock Playing Card Deck
If you’d like to take a broader view of the music scene for your next bridge game and your love for music isn’t Strat-specific, take a look at the official Hard Rock Cafe playing card deck. (If you’re a fan of, well, most music powered by the electric and acoustic guitar, this deck should resonate well…)
Playing Card Inlay Stickers (for the Fretboard)
Fretboard markers help a guitar player keep track of what’s where; occasionally, we like seeing pretty inlays in their place, too. If you’d like them to be playing card appropriate, you might appreciate these card-themed inlay stickers for the fretboard.
Note, you might need a reliable guitar tech’s help to have them installed.
