We’ve reached the time of year when gift-giving is traditional for many – but then we also get to the question of what to buy a bridge player.
What do you buy someone who has everything? As an old joke says, probably an alarm system.
For bridge players, the answer could be a little more complex. We like things that have card decks on them, as well as actual card decks. We like bridge books, too.
If you’re stuck for bridge-player gift ideas this holiday season, here are more great gift ideas.
#1: A BBO Prime Subscription
Share the love – and the love for bridge.
A subscription to BBO Prime could be what an aspiring bridge player needs to take their playing more seriously. It’s a great gift for any card player, and Prime gives users access to a handful of extra features (including this here column!).
#2: Another Card Deck
Even card players who prefer their game predominantly played online can appreciate the look and/or feel of a real card deck.
Most card players that I know could always use another card deck to their collection.
If you happen to know someone particularly well, consider themed card decks that would catch their eye.
#3: Vintage Trump Markers
While physical trump markers aren’t used for online games, wouldn’t it be cool to have a couple on your desk while you’re playing anyway?
Trump markers are the perfect gift. If you have the time to dig for option online, you can even unearth vintage trump markers for sale on classifieds and auction sites.
#4: More Bridge Books
New bridge books are released every year.
Even a bridge player who looks like they might have everything could be missing a few newly released bridge-titles which just came out.
If you aren’t sure, ask, or opt for a voucher from a popular retailer where bridge books are sold.
#5: Trading Card Sets
Bridge players and trading card game players are closely related, and many bridge players I know also play the odd game of something else.
Trading card sets are a great potential gift for bridge players interested in other decks. (Again, if you aren’t sure, ask the person you’d like to buy it for.)
Start with starter decks if someone has never ventured into the world of TCG decks before, or expansion decks if you know they already own the basics.
Remember to challenge them to a game in a few months!
#6: Card-Themed… Anything
If you can imagine something, then you can find it in a card-themed version for sale on the internet.
This includes pajama sets, weird costumes, shirts, socks, ties, shoes, jackets, curtains and duvets.
As a quick exercise, look it up. Name anything, and see if it exists emblazoned with card suits. (Probably.)
So, if you know any bridge players with card-specific fashion sense or décor needs, then you’ll surely find the answer to what to buy them online.
