Better Securing Your BBO Account

The BBO team puts a lot of work into ensuring the platform we all use to play bridge is secure, supported and updated at all times.

Users can still do a few more things from their side to help ensure their accounts and devices stay safe.

Here’s how to make sure your BBO account remains secure.

#1: Update (or Change) Your Browser

If anything on BBO isn’t acting the way it’s supposed to, the first recommendation is to update your browser. See if the problem persists after this. Browser updates themselves can also cause issues. For this, a browser change is the more likely fix.

Still having issues? Contact BBO Support.

#2: Spot Something? Say Something

Technical issues and potential abuse on BBO should be reported as soon as they’re spotted.

Reports let the team know that something is up. It’s a lot easier for them to do something from there.

If you’ve spotted something that needs to be looked at, get in touch with BBO Support or Abuse.

#3: Don’t Share Personal Information

Never share personal information like your address, social security number, full name, credit card details, passwords, pin numbers or other obvious details about yourself through the BBO platform.

For extra safety, don’t share these personal details about yourself anywhere else, either.

Leaving these details anywhere can leave your entire portfolio of online accounts wide open.

#4: Change Passwords Regularly (And One More Thing)

Safer passwords are ones that change regularly, and ones that aren’t obvious things people can find out through a Google search or two.

One more thing: don’t use the same password for everything. It just means the potential to have several accounts compromised at once.

#5: Virus-Checking

Does your device have a reliable anti-spyware solution set up? If not, then it’s time to do something about it.

Accounts are only as secure as the devices they’re accessed on. If the device itself is compromised, then you’re risking the safety of everything.

Install a basic anti-virus at the very least, and check on a regular basis.

#6: Download Only the Official BBO App

The BBO app is best downloaded from official sources, including from BBO itself, the Google Play Store or the Apple Store.

If you download an .apk from anywhere else on the internet, the BBO team can’t guarantee that the file is original or safe.

Report any unauthorized sightings of the BBO app available-for-download to the support team.

#7: Free Up Some Space

Experiencing lag or issues?

Computers with full-up drives are more vulnerable, and it could be the cause for a huge amount of technical problems.

Other than a browser update, freeing up space on your device can help. It’s surprising how much filled up space on the average device can be cleared up or discarded because it’s just “there” after time.

This includes browser history, temporary files, app caches (for mobile devices) and any downloaded files or app installation files that haven’t been used for a while.

Restart, and some spacial awareness could be what your device needed.
