Dear BBOers, have a go at trying to solve these bridge problems. Depending on your answer you’ll score between 0 to 5 points per question. Your overall score will be displayed, along with the correct answers once you’ve complete the quiz. Good luck!

If you lead A from AK and not Rusinow, S A is correct on 3. Why not say A or K is ok depending on agreed leads?
If the K holds it guarantees you also have the A – otherwise declarer would win and establish the Q in dummy.
Playing the A leaves your partner in unnecessary doubt. I would assume it denied you holding AKJ[T/x].
Who on Earth would play the A of S, without holding the K?
No reason in this case to make any distinction between leading A or K.
100% agree
We play A with AK
d’accord
Thank you
I only got one right which is one more than usual. These questions are way above my level so in future I will leave the quiz alone as it rather depressing to always do badly. “Try to focus more and next time you’ll do better. Perhaps a class to refresh your knowledge will be helpful” is rather patronising I feel.
But best of luck to the better players.
I’ve updated the feedback in response to your comment. The aim is not to discourage. Thanks for the feedback. Hope you decide to give the quiz a go again in future.
Last month I got the answers all wrong and felt depressed about it…but I was able to apply one of the lessons learned in a hand last week. Today I was a little reluctant to take this month’s quiz – but this quiz seemed much easier, and I got them all right! Progress may be setting in. 😉
It’s good to hear that the quiz is helping. Thank you for the feedback.
I got three correct which is the first time I’ve done so well on a quiz. I’m quite pleased.
thanks for your comments
I only got one right, but it was more inattention and lack of detail looking. I will take this
First try, got two right and now I am looking forward to the next quiz. I read the correct answers and I think that I can learn. Until the next time!
First time I’ve done it. Thought it great and the comments very sound
Always enjoy this quiz and the answers n lesson following … got two right v happy
Excellent explanations. Thanks
Useful explanations, next time hope to answer better…
For me the quizes are spoilt by frequent uncertainties in the information presented. For example in this quiz question 4 says ‘against 6S’ but the partnership is not defending but attempting to make the contract.
Please get it right and give a bit more information.
In the first hand, do I really want to be at the 3 level with just 20 points????
Nope. You can have a worse hand and still need to Pass. P is on her own w/this one.
Don’t pre-balance with minimums & flat shape.
@Richard: You may not *want* to be at the 3-level, but you want to defend 2S-X even less, so you gotta bid *something*.
This is my first time taking a Quiz. I was so thrilled to find out that I gave 4 right answers out of four! I don’t consider myself a very good player, maybe a bit above average. It was an interesting quiz.
i didnt see the first 2 hands
My choice as a response to hand #1 was not available.
In real life I would bid 2hearts. I know not to pass partners double but my hand did not seem to warrant a jump to 3 hearts. I thought that would show more points.
If I bid 2 hearts, partner can pass or correct to 3 diamonds. We have 18HCP between us, count 20 with distribution. I would like to see all four hands. What are. the chances the hand will make 3H? Slim to None?
Hard to bid 2H when the opps have already bid 2S:)
@Ilona Kovács
Nor did I. In separate tab.
However, there is a trick. When you click the test, it doesn’t go to the new tab before you ask for it. It first open in the window in original tab. In this window, you can see all hands (at least I could).
So you can look the problems in the original window, decide about your answers and THEN open the test in new tab…
P.S. Do you use Firefox?
habe das erste mal teilgenommen, sehr hilfreich die Erklärungen, werde weiter teilnehmen.
Thank you!
Deal 1: Isn’t Lebensohl standard now a days? direct 3H promisses positive hand
You need to specify type of scoring!

i had only 4 points i need to pass
My first go at this quiz and I got all 4 correct. I’ll have another go to see if that was a fluke!
Where did i get previous quiz?
it was very interesting i got 17 point
I believe that this is the last quizz which will be run by you. I wish to thank you for your time and interest.
will miss you and the quizz very much. Thank you,
in #1 Who bids 3H ? can not good play bridge !
here is the obvious Lebensohl 2NT (very weak 3H)
Good questions! I think that the first one was the most tricky
Thank you very much, very usefull
Peut-on voir et faire les tests précédents? Si oui, comment?
Another excellent quiz. The explanations are very instructive.
Just discovered this quiz feature. Got four correct, after much thought on each. Think questions and explanations excellent. Thank you and look forward to future quiz’s. Fantastic learning tool. Thank you!
My first time also. Very informative. Thanks.
was leuk om mee te doen!
1:Pass,2:3H,3:SA,4:D2
very educative…thanks..
good initiatives. It helps to develop players skill
Grazie, molto chiaro e istruttivo
enjoyed the quiz..& learned something with the 1 quiz i got wrong..thank you
My first quiz. I missed the dbl on the first hand but still think a pass is called for to bid at the 3 level with only 4 pets.
The spade King is right to let partner know what to play if he can’t run hearts on your return. The spade Ace says i am cashing out partner because i am afraid the Ace may go away on any other return.
I enjoyed taking the quiz, it validated my thought process, but also showed areas of weakness. Appreciate the rationale for each question/outcome. Thank you
Thanks! These are HELPFUL!
very educational hands.
Ottime mani didattiche 👍
Thanks a lot, very helpful in revision what ever we taught.
Tx … Always something to learn in Bridge!
Thanks for this test! It was really cool end useful!
On #1, how about some partial credit for 3D, since you don’t tell us how we’re going to make 3H against repeated spade and then club leads. roman99
First time tried this feature – liked it and found it thought provoking – thanks
Muy buen examen gracias
wish my partner’s could see that I’m not so daft with them all right
Rusinow leads is a bridge convention used as part of defensive carding. Rusinow leads are commonly used only on the opening lead against a suit contract;
First time for me, and I found it very instructive. I’ll be back. Alsi agree with some of the previous commenters that A and K are both correct, as leading the A without having K would make no sense.
I got 2 out of 4 correct. First time taking the quiz. Feeling a little, not a lot, proud. Very helpful in learning more. keep them coming!
Hi, the quiz regarded my answer of 2NT to question 1. For me the question is the difference between bidding 2NT and 3H, which to a degree depends on partnership understanding. My logic is that 2NT is scrambling and partner will bid the lowest playable spot. A lot of people play 2NT followed by 3H as invitational. However I believe that it is better to reverse this and play 3H directly to be invitational. Because if partner is 2443, he will bid 3D. When I now bid 3H, he does not know if I had clubs and hearts or an invitational hand.
Can we see old quizzes? These are very good.
I got a 0 but enjoyed the answers and explanations .Please keep me in the quizzes. I am a new player and love the game
Thank you for the quiz. First time I have tried. Very good explanations.
I loved this! Could you please do this again? Or maybe have a weekly test?
Test
1 pass
2 3h
3 kc
4 2c
Actually this is great and just what I need to show and explain what I did wrong or even right.
I look forward to go over this again when I can focus better., and learn, learn, learn.. Thank You!
Great quiz.
good quiz interested to know result
Depends on partnership agreement, unless you identify what that is than you can not make the right bid if you don’t have the same agreement
