7 Good daily bridge habits that help the game

It takes under a minute to read the news headlines for the day. Sometimes, it can be an overwhelming task. There’s a lot of bad things in the world, and a lot of news that hits hard.

But what do you do with your day from there?

If you’d like to see good change in the world, start by asking what you could do with the rest of your day to help the change along.

I’m not talking about grand gestures, but little things that would make the world better.

Help someone to reach a tall shelf, ask a stranger if they could use help, or tell someone you’ve just met about what playing bridge can mean for their mind.

Every time a player does something good for bridge, the great game gets to grow.

Here are 7 good bridge habits that help the game.

1. Share a bridge article.

Every time you share a bridge article, the universe creates another bridge player. Well, not quite, but sharing bridge resources helps to support the writer – and passes the knowledge along. Shares could mean reads, and views will mean that more people get to know about the game.

2. Recommend a bridge lesson.

I keep a folder of bookmarks just for bridge lessons. When I’ve seen something really good, into the folder it goes. Do the same, and recommend the cream of the crop to someone as your “good bridge thing” for the day.

3. Challenge another bridge player.

Challenges are like food for competitive sports players. One player goes to another and says, “I think I can beat you.” It’s why we watch, why we play, why we show up in the first place. Have you challenged another bridge player today? Well, you should.

4. Subscribe to a bridge resource.

Why subscribe to anything? Subscriptions are good: When bridge players subscribe to cool resources, these resources get support. Subsequent support means that these resources are more likely to continue producing good stuff in the future. If you see something you like, always consider subscribing to it!

5. Discuss bridge online.

The internet is all about engagement. The more a topic gets talked about online, the higher its engagement level (and the more popular bots will consider it to be). Discuss bridge often! Even if you only leave one comment on a forum post, make bridge discussions a more regular part of your routine.

6. Play bridge bots.

Don’t forget to play against the bots from time to time. What does it do for bridge as a whole? Playing against bots counts as one of the best ways to improve your game – and the next time you’re facing human players, you’ll have experience on your side.

7. Correct a bridge myth.

Have you seen a bridge myth anywhere on the internet, or overheard in public? If you are a bridge player who wants to do some good, take the time to dispel the myth. Myths don’t do bridge any good: Every time a myth dies, a new bridge player is born.

What bridge habits have you worked into your routine to do the world of bridge some good?
