3 Celebrities who love trading card games

I can recall my first tarot card deck, and I remember my first set of trading cards very well. Neither of them are in my collection today, but the memories are well-ingrained.

Yu-Gi-Oh! was the game that sparked the magic.

I started out by playing Kaiba’s Revenge on PC, introduced by another kid.

After learning the basics of duelling, I got my own copy of the game and made my way through. It was my very first intro to deck construction.

I would find a Yu-Gi-Oh! starter deck the same month.

That would be where my obsession with cards really took off. Bridge would only appear on the scene a little later in life. Even as a bridge fan, I re-watch episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! Often – and enjoy the competitive edge associated with TCGs.

It turns out that celebrities love trading card games, too.

Let’s not forget that celebrities get to do things for fun.

Here are 3 celebrities who love trading card games.

1. Katy Perry

Katy Perry is a world famous musician with a vocal range that stretches further than your average yoga practitioner. As for genre, she’s sung in so many that it becomes hard to choose one.

She’s also a fan of one of the coolest trading card games in the world: Pokemon.

That would be why the company called on Perry for the 25th anniversary of the franchise.

The music video Electric was recorded to celebrate a quarter-century of Pokemon. Can you guess which character was picked to be in the video with Perry?

Fans should know it could only have been Pikachu.

2. Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber was discovered by his future producers thanks to his YouTube Channel. After people in the music industry took a liking to Bieber’s style, he shot to fame fast.

Then the memes started. The internet exploded with people making fun of Bieber and literally everything connected to him. Bieber’s hair, Bieber’s voice, Bieber’s lyrics.. Eventually, Bieber would appear in cameos and advertisements making fun of himself – and at least he’s got a good sense of humour.

Why am I mentioning him on this list?

He’s got a small obsession for collecting Pokemon cards.

According to ComicBook.com, Bieber’s trading card collection can be seen on Instagram. There’s no word yet on how often he plays (and whether he still collects).

3. Seth Rogen

Disagree with me if you like, but I think Seth Rogen is a great actor – and as his career shows, also an excellent writer.

He has a huge list of other talents, including vase-making (see his Twitter account!) and essay-writing, Then, Rogen has also appeared on cooking shows, voiced characters in cartoons, and he’s an advocate for Alzheimer’s research and support.

What’s his preferred TCG?

Several internet resources mention him as a player of Magic: The Gathering.

I have to wonder how Seth Rogen would play bridge… Anyone want to invite him to one?

Which celebrity would you love to run into at a TCG or bridge game? Which celebrity would you avoid?
