It’s almost the time of year where people make lists of the things they’re going to do (or definitely not do) when the next year arrives.
The idea of new years’ resolutions are essential for some people, and annoying or unnecessary for others.
If you are on the side of the fence that doesn’t like setting these goals for the year, I would like to ask you to take a different perspective (at the very least, for the moment it takes to read the post!).
The following post isn’t about life resolutions; oh, no.
I won’t use this post to tell readers to spring clean in 2022, or to go on a new fad diet from a celebrity chef who also sells cookware.
Let’s talk about bridge resolutions instead, and let’s get more personal for a moment.
Here’s a look at some of my own, personal bridge resolutions for the year 2022.
1. In 2022, I’ll try not to forget another card deck on a bench somewhere.
I’m good at remembering certain things, and bad at remembering other things – it gets a little worse when I’m trying to multitask, and I’m likely to forget as one memory makes way for another.
I’ve left several card decks in very strange places.
While shuffling and having a cigarette, I’ve gotten on a taxi just to forget the deck.
2. In 2022, I’ll try to stop doing tarot readings for fictional characters in movies.
Tarot is one of my combined interests that I partake in every once in a while. That’s okay, I enjoy it, and I surely intend to continue doing it.
But within the next year, maybe I should stop trying to pull 3 cards for fictional movie characters.
Who does first?
Who killed who?
Pull three cards, and do their reading.
While I enjoy it tremendously, I’m not sure that other moviegoers feel the same (at all).
3. In 2022, I’ll try to avoid the destruction of another keyboard (even though it can be very satisfying to do so).
Rage-quitting is a term originating from the internet, and I think it describes the feeling of anger-and-defeat very well.
What I’m about to say might be a shock, but…
Have you ever been so angry at a malfunction that you plugged out your keyboard, carried it outside, and swung it like Thor’s hammer straight to the ground?
I have, and while it was satisfying, it was also regretful.
In 2022, less rage-quitting might be in order.
What are your chosen resolutions for the next year?
