About ACBL Daylong Games

ACBL Daylong Tournaments offer a flexible way to play bridge online, and the opportunity to win ACBL Masterpoints. You can start a game, pause anytime, and resume it later within the same day, without losing your progress. The final results are delivered to you the next day via BBO mail and listed under Completed Tournaments.

Game Specifics:

  • Choose between 12 or 16 boards.
  • Matchpoints or IMPs scoring options available.
  • Once you start, complete your game by 5am US Eastern Time the next day.
  • The game is stratified, allowing for fair play across different skill levels.
  • Top finishers earn ACBL masterpoints and BBO points.
  • You’ll be seated South, with three advanced robot players filling the other seats.

Daylong Format Highlights:

  • Provisional results are available during play. Your final results will be sent to your BBO Mailbox, or under Recent Tournaments, in the History tab, after completion.
  • You’re typically dealt the “best hand” at the table, making the game more engaging and fun.
  • If your robot partner is the declarer, you’ll take over to play the hand, switching back afterward.
  • Each daylong game uses multiple “deal pools”, to prevent cheating.

About the Robots:

  • BBO uses GIB robots, who play a relatively simple and natural 2/1 bidding system.
  • Click on any bid to see the explanations. Hover over bid options in the bidding diagram, to check what your robot partner would understand. This helps avoid misunderstandings with your robot partner.
