Examining Stayman

The Stayman convention (named after Sam Stayman, but invented by George Rapée) is usually one of the first conventions newcomers encounter; it’s also one that has a thousand different uses – but one that can take a while to learn.

Simply, Stayman is most commonly used after 1NT openers (finding a 4-card fit in a major suit).  But there’s a lot more to say about it, and I’m glad that some great teachers and YouTube users have.
