Summer NABC Robot Individual: Day 2 in progress

Day 2 of the 2019 Summer NABC Robot Individual has begun! 1,906 players registered to play this NABC, and 1,825 showed up to play their Day 1 boards and moved to next day.

Day 1 Provisional Results

Day 1’s provisional results are out! These results have not undergone cheating inspection yet and are subject to change. Final results will be confirmed at the end of the event, after our team of experts completes their investigation.

Well done to JRMayne, leading with an impressive 73.10% score. He is also the stratum B leader. Leading in stratum A and 2nd in the leaderboard is star player Fredp, with a score of 72.82%. And in 6th, leader of strat C is Sean9816 with 69.46%.

Good luck on Day 2! Every single board is weighted equally so even if things go weird with a few hands, don’t worry about it too much. It is not going to sink you over 72 boards! Just try to finish all your boards each day, because incomplete boards are given an automatic 0.

We tried to log on to the site at 7:30 pm PDT last night, and were continually bumped off the web site. After many tries to log in, we gave up. Are you having server capacity issues? Do you have any plans to provide refunds to those who could not log in?

Thank you. Michael Young, San Jose CA USA.

Disgusted with amount of times I have to keep logging in. Also, disgusted with the way the robot bid on board 3, day 2, We were in the right contract until he bid my opening bid suit 3X with a singleton. What a joke. I splintered his original suit, so there is no excuse for the way this robot bid after the splinter occurred. This will be the last time I will play in this event.

The real flaws of the robot system really seem to surface in these tourneys. Why is it that you simply cannot seem to double for penalty and yet the robots almost ALWAYS are allowed to double us for penalty? It is one of the most incomprehensible parts of the heavily flawed robot system. Also: Corrections to contracts. You will park the contract in a perfectly suitable 3NT only to have the robot jump it to 4 hearts–inevitably down one. These boards are designed for defeat and the novice player will find them a tough road to hoe that’s for sure. I think there should be STRATIFIED boards for A, B, and C players because the beginning and novice players are simply throwing their money away here. A very disappointing and ludicrous set of boards almost every day.

Further, the people that do well here are the people that truly know how to bid and play against the robots. This is not true bridge. It is simply “bridge-like.” The top of the leader boards are there because they have invested heavily in playing against the robots over long periods of time. As other players have mentioned, the robots took me down in at least a dozen boards in this tourney where the final contract was a complete joke/disaster from what it should have been. I will not be playing in any more of these. Stop wasting your time and money on these phony NABC’s.
