Quick interview with Vicky82 (Virginia Chediak)

You might remember Vicky (Virginia Chediak) from our previous news articles, as a repeat winner of the WBF Women’s Bridge Festival. Meanwhile she managed to win this festival a couple more times for a grand total of 5 wins! Before heading off to Wuhan for the World Championships, Vicky answered a few quick questions for us.

How did you first start playing bridge?
I learned to play at home with my sister and parents.

When did you learn and from whom?
I was around 12-13 and my father taught me.

When did you move to Internet Bridge, and how did you get to BBO?
I started playing on BBO in 2005 and I heard about it through friends.

Do you still prefer real life Bridge?
Sure 😊 there is nothing better than playing in real life. But it takes more time and sometimes distance is a problem if I want to play with friends that are far away.

What do you think are the differences in life and Internet Bridge?
You don’t see the people at the table. One of the advantages on BBO is that you can play from the phone whenever you have some spare time. I do it even if I only have a few minutes 😊

What are your favorite live tournaments?
I play as many tournaments as I can in Norway (Marit Sveaas is the best tournament in Norway). I always go to the European Championships. And one of my favorite tournaments is the Madeira Festival, I’ve been there more than 12 times.

What are your favorite games on BBO?
Women’s Bridge Festival, Norsk på Norsk, challenges with friends, team matches, and bidding/training tables.

What do you think, should bridge to be taught from elementary school?
Yes, some countries already started with that.

What non-bridge hobbies and loves do you have?
I love traveling and going hikes. The Norwegian nature is amazing.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans always includes bridge. I am playing the Norway Nationals in August and going to Wuhan in September.
