Another fun and unofficial holiday gives us an excuse to get together and talk about our favorite places to go hiking. Macaw (also known to you as ACBL and Accounting) is a big fan and she goes hiking every weekend with her husband Dan in the beautiful Olympic Peninsula.

I live in the lovely medieval town of Sibiu, in Romania, surrounded by picturesque hills, mountains and forests so clearly this is a holiday to my liking!

How to Celebrate?

• Take a hike!
• Spend the day exploring hiking trails around your town. Make sure you carry enough food and water with you and tell your family and friends where you are going.
• Join us and your BBO friends in this Sunday’s tournament to tell us all about it.

And finally, a piece of advice from Romanian popular wisdom: If you get blisters on your feet from walking too much, take a very thin slice of unsalted bacon and bandage your foot with it. Do this every evening before you go to bed until the booboo goes away.
