Meet Quentin, the artist of our band

I’m really happy to introduce Quentin Esprit, one of our new Graphic Designers. Why am I saying he’s the artist of BBO’s band? Take some time to read the interview below and you will find out. His artistic personality is given both by his work and by his passions.

Here is Quentin, 27 years old and an extremely creative personality!

Quentin, you seem like a guy who loves his job and is very creative. How did you become a designer for BBO, and can you explain what you do in simple terms, like talking to a child?

I joined BBO at the end of December 2019, so a few months ago. I was fascinated by the idea of joining this group as I liked the fact that this job offered me the possibility to bring some novelty and creativity while keeping the historical essence.

I work in BBO as a Graphic Designer. My job consists in playing with colors and shapes in order to create concepts in different areas, and above all to create meaning. Not so easy to concretely understand, but believe me it is a very challenging and exciting job and if you have a creative personality you should consider it!

Ok so, you are the artist of the team! (One of the artists because this team is definitely really passionate about multiple arts!) Let us know something more about you, what would the perfect week look like for you?

Well… I love coffee, I drink coffee every time of the day and…. I love the sunshine. These two factors positively contribute to my daily mood and help me come up with dazzling ideas and be more creative. It does not mean I am meteopathic, but sun definitely increases my positive vibes!

What about your passions, are you a traveler? If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go?

One of my dreams is to take some time for myself and to travel around the world with only a bag-pack on my shoulders! I would like to travel alone in order to challenge myself. I am firmly convinced that travelling opens your mind and allows you to discover new horizons, to meet different interesting cultures. These experiences will allow me to practice and discover design throughout the world.

There is not an exact place where I would like to go as I wish to travel all around the continents and to get to know more places as possible. Maybe, once I will start planning my world tour, I will have clearer ideas from which country and city I would like to start the trip from.

Lets talk a bit more about your hobbies… Are you a music lover and do you play any instrument?

I am with no doubt a music lover and I am a big fan of all kinds of music. When I was younger I used to play a guitar but now I would love to learn how to play the piano.

I really enjoy going to music festivals and discovering new artists.

If you could choose only one song to play every time you put your earphones on, what would it be?

Hmmm… it is a very tricky question! It would be very difficult for me to choose only one song, but if I had no choice, I think I would listen to “Femme fatale” from the Velvet Underground — but it would be in strong competition with “It was a good day” from Ice Cube.

What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?

I don’t know if you can define it as a “secret talent”, but I have very flexible fingers, I can absolutely twist them any way I want. But to be honest, it is not very useful!

To follow-up on that, what superpower would you most like to have?

It is the first time I receive this question in my life! So let me think about it… For sure the superpower that I would mostly like to have is teleportation as I really hate driving and public transports. It would be wonderful to reach places in a few seconds without having to waste time.

Let’s talk about your friends and your family. What three words would your friends use to describe you?

You should call and ask them! I will try to be as objective as possible. I am sure they would describe me as a calm and a bit shy person who sometimes shut himself in his own world.

Last but not least, could you tell BBO’s readers something about your family?

I have a huge cat, his name is Octave and he is a Maine Coon. Octave is definitely a dog in cat’s body who snores as an orc.

Fingers crossed Quentin will soon fix awful choice of colors in newest bbo version, so many different shades of blue and green, only to be shocked by horrible yellow “greet player” box we can’t get rid off..
Pls keep in mind majority of bbo players are 65+ of age, light blue letters on white background in chat area are close to insult to them.
And newest frontpage photo? Oh, looks like advertisement for “best funeral plan”

I like the look and feel of the old flash version. why did it have to be so radically changed. I like the deep green card table cover, I dont like everything so huge. are we all blind?

Hi I am a TD for Hornets and I cannot figure out how to do it with this new version. Anyway you can make it easier? The flash version is easy as pie. Good luck on your new job. Definitely the site needs some design.

I concur – the new BBO presentation is Inferior to the previous flash version. PLEASE restore it!

I love the new styling and interactivity. It’s a GREAT start and a refreshing change. It would be great if we had a zoom setting where we could enlarge or reduce the size of playing field and cards. Welcome to BBO, Quentin, and good luck.

There seems to be an abundance of ‘clicks’ to get to your destination, compared to old version. For example, to check player’s profile at your table, you used to be able to click on their name. Now u have to click on their name and choose ‘show profile’!

For seeing profile try clicking on the left side as you face bame

Unpopular opinion: I actually like the new UI, and it’s truly not that far off of the flash version (apart from the login screens, which, I have to agree, are a little in-your-face).

What I’ve wanted ever since the Flash version, however, is the ability to customize color schemes (and perhaps also the card designs and font sizes).

Quentin, please try to move the pop up message box from the low right corner into some less important place on the screen. It’s very ennerving for me, and I’m sure for many others.

    Stay healthy and MtFbwy 🙂

    Cheers,

    power.

In the old version it was much easier to review and play through a hand with GIB’s assistance after you had played it yourself in a tournament. The hand was just sitting there in the bottom right and you could play through it easily. Now you have to go through a bunch of clicks, settings and popups to do the same thing.
This is why I keep using the old version.

I love the new UI my friends want to get it How do they get it?

New graphic design was soft and not to tire the user really. My suggestion is that will be much effective 3D effects especially on the buttons on the new versions. Thx
