What are the all-time ACBL speedball records?
Many years ago, on the evening of December 24, 2005, Meyer Kotkin (guymath) and I had a big matchpoint score at speedball: 88.4%.
I have been waiting to see an equally astonishing IMP score at speedball ever since. I saw a few scores in the 70’s.
On March 6, Mark Lair (mslair), Hall of Famer, and I (mseligman) had one in the 4PM ACBL Speedball: 87.35 IMPs!
All our hands were great, but a good one was board 9:
I bid 2♣, rather than 2♦ to deter a club lead against the game or slam in spades that was going to be bid.
Mark’s 6♣ cuebid also implied the Heart Ace, since he knew I likely needed that stopper.
Mark’s play was delicate and correct.
Do you know of a higher score?

I scored over 80 IMPs once – but it wasn’t over 85. daffydoc
