ACBL – Silver Linings Week: Behind Every Board are Silver Points!

ACBL Games on BBO

Silver Lining Week: from today (May 25) to Sunday (May 31)

This week is really special….

Virtual Clubs on BBO will award triple masterpoints in silver instead of black during the week of May 25-31 (Monday-Sunday). No special registration is necessary. Simply play a regular game in your Virtual Club.

(This opportunity is only available to clubs that have created a Virtual Club on Bridge Base Online. If your club hasn’t signed up yet, it’s not too late! Club managers can fill out a short form to get started.)

Here’s how Silver Linings Week works:

  • Any Virtual Club game that starts between 12:01 a.m. on Monday, May 25, and 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, will automatically be included in the event.
  • All games will pay TRIPLE regular club masterpoints, and the points awarded will be SILVER instead of black.
  • This is not a STaC (Sectional Tournament at the Club). There will be no overalls or combining of scores. It’s your regular club game with new, temporary conditions.

What you need to know

  • You must have a BBO account
  • Be sure your ACBL number is updated at least 24 hours before the tournament starts. If you want to update or renew your member, please click here

Do the results we see instantly at the end of the tournament already include the 3x multiplier? Or will the masterpoints we see be multiplied by 3?

Points shown immediately on BBO do not include the multiplier — actual MPs will be triple that amount. I receive an email from The Common Game (Commongamehelpdesk@gmail.com) in conjunction with my virtual club (Bridge Club of Atlanta). The first link listed is “Club Web Results Page” — that’s where I’ve found the triple points award.

I thought you could play in any club. What if our club’s time is not convenient. That’s too bad.

How do I play without a partner

    1. RBeye

Go to your club on the pending list. Go to the partnership room; notify the club director that you are there.

Is this open to people like myself who play in the montreal area or any clubs?
    How would I join in?

    1. RBeye

There are several Montreal area clubs playing on the virtual platform; seek them out.

Overseas players should be allowed to play in any club.
    What do you think?

Do the ACBL SYC games each day qualify for Silver/triple silver?

    1. RBeye

SYC games do not qualify for 3x or Silver, only Virtual clubs.

I would like to earn silver points. It appears that my partner and I could only play if our local bridge club has a virtual club on BBO. IS THAT TRUE?

We earned 1.12 silver today and it did not triple. We were given 2.96. I do not understand this. Same thing yesterday. We earned .36 and it did not triple. Only received.96

The official masterpoint awards are on live for clubs. BBO shows he usual points in the tournament leaderboard. ACBL awards the silver and triples, straight in acbl live.
